totally unrelated

two things that have nothing to do with one another.

if you read some of my old ramblings on another blog identity you know that i am very excited about birds.  so today i saw a red tailed hawk over on 14th and guerrero right in the mission. not soaring around but sitting on top of a cross on the front of a seventh day adventist church ripping apart the carcass of a pigeon.

oddly beautiful.

as usual i didn’t bring a camera. i was carrying around for a while for moments like that, but nothing happened so of course i stopped and now it would have been nice.

the other actually occurred over labor day, but i hadn’t seen a good video of it til today. the bay bridge is being retro-fitted to be stronger and safer for the foreseeable future. part of that involved replacing 300 yards of the run up to the bridge. they closed the bridge for labor day weekend at 8 p.m. on friday and it was to be reopened by 6 a.m. tuesday morning for rush hour.

pretty nuts all in all seeing as the company in charge was going to demolish 300 yards of concrete and move in a new piece.  well they got it done 12 hours ahead of time and cars were able to come over the bridge by 6 p.m. monday night. watch the video link to see the time lapse of the bridge being installed.

it is impressive.

i plan on writing about the red sox series this weekend, but i am still a little dumbfounded. saturday was great and yesterday was fun up until jeter ruined my day. found a bar with a dude from worcester who ran the bar so at least we were in good company. the only thought in my head about it is arghh.
